#1. Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity
Teachers use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and learning, and technology to facilitate experiences that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation in both face-to-face and virtual environments. Teachers:
promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness
engage students in exploring real-world issues and solving authentic problems using digital tools and resources
promote student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students' conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative processes
model collaborative knowledge construction by engaging in learning with students, colleagues, and others in face-to-face and virtual environments
Engaging my students in authentic, real-world issues is something that I feel very strongly about incorporating in my classroom. Family and Consumer Sciences is a class where everyone should be able to excel, at least in some form. Using the new technologies and resources I have learned will only enhance my ability to help students to achieve their goals in a 21st century work world.
My Future Learning Goals related to this standard (Now What?)
I plan to continue to make changes and stay up-to-date on the most current information to help my students. I am currently seeking a program to be incorporated into my Independent Living class to teach students skills like online banking and bill paying.
